Fresh pizza from the garden bar at The Thomas Lord Pub in West Meon

The Thomas Lord is high on my roster of favourite local watering holes, but I fall just that bit more in love with it come the summer months when they open their fantastic pizza bar in the garden.

Positioned under an old yew tree, the bar serves up delicious fresh pizza straight from their outdoor pizza oven. You can expect the same high standard as you’d find ordering from their main pub menu. Only the freshest local produce is used and you can bet some of the ingredients are handpicked from the pub’s very own vegetable garden, which you’ll spy alongside the chicken coop at the rear of the pub.

Washed down with a beer or wine from the ever so respectable collection, and you really won’t be left asking for anything more. If the weather is misbehaving then settle in to one of the giant leather sofas which form part of the gorgeous homely interior and you’ll soon forget about the weather. This really is one of the finest country pubs around, inside and out.
